De Trollenmoller: D&D Fantasy to Read
Dice, rumours, and a tailor suddenly pulled into adventure: it sounds like the start of a D&D session, but this time you can find it on the page. Our Dungeon Master Jelle Spruyt wrote the short story De Trollenmoller, featured in Verhalen uit de Drakenvleugel 4.
In Lindelo, rumours about bloodthirsty Trolls are growing louder. Tailor Elric has to decide who and what he believes. Who does he keep close, and who should he keep at a distance? When do you step away from something or someone? When do you let go completely? And how do you do any of that when the world around you becomes more dangerous by the day?
De Trollenmoller is fantasy with drama and adventure: a story about trust, doubt, and growing when you may not feel ready at all. Elric first learns how not to do things, but during the story he becomes something he never planned to be: an adventurer.
That makes the story especially fun for anyone who loves Dungeons & Dragons. A great D&D adventure is never only about defeating monsters. It is about making choices, trusting allies, making mistakes, and discovering what kind of hero your character becomes once the dice start rolling.
All stories in the book series are inspired by Dungeons & Dragons. Many of the writers are D&D players or Dungeon Masters themselves, and you can feel that in the atmosphere. The stories read like stepping into a tavern where every character carries their own quest, secret, or scar.
Jelle also contributed to the first edition of Verhalen uit de Drakenvleugel, which has since found more than 600 readers. Curious what others think of the series? You can find reviews on Hebban.

Whether you prefer reading, writing, or sitting down at the table with your party, stories often begin with one small choice. Maybe it is opening a book. Maybe it is rolling a d20.
